Hi Country Fans! Okay…..I hope my TV menu is telling the truth this time. We are scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2012 on RFD TV (DirecTV 345) at 7:00 pm, on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 5:00 am and again on Saturday at 11:00 pm. This is the “Country Family Reunion Second Generation” show that all the kids of Country Music Legends are on. They only showed 3 shows and then it went to Gospel??? So by looking at the menu on my DirecTV I saw that it was scheduled for Friday and Saturday, the 29th & the 30th of 2012 on RFD, channel 345 on DirecTV. I don’t recall what the channels are for Comcast or Dish, so you’ll have to look it up. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping that it will be shown. Have a great day, and I’ll be talking to you again soon!
Hi ya’ll, and I mean all of you “out-of-towners” and locals! Hope you’re having a fun-time in Nashville, getting to see all of your favorite stars. The shows are fabulous, and I know you’ll be remembering this in years to come. Yesterday I sang at the Nightlife Theater off of Music Valley Drive for “Breakfast With The Stars” for a wonderful organization called R.O.P.E. (Reunion Of Proffessional Entertainers). We had a breakfast fit for a King; eggs, ham, gravey, biscuits, fruit, cereal, orange juice and coffee. I saw lots and lots of friends. Some fans, and some entertainers. It was like a family reunion! Keith Bilbrey was our announcer, and he did such a wonderful job. I sang my old stand by song, it has become my signature song “Muleskinner Blues”. And may I say that we had an excellent…..VERY excellent BAND! They were awesome! It “Kick-Started” off a wonderful week for Fan Fair. Have a great time, and enjoy our city. We love it, hope you do too!
Today is the anniversary of my daddy’s death. May 26, 1984. It has been 28 years ago today, and I remember it like it was yesterday. I miss him so much. He passed away while singing a new song he had written, on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. The Nelson brother’s, A. J. & Doyle Nelson were singing harmony with him. It’s strange that they started with my daddy back in the 50′s and they ended on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry with my daddy. I was singing on the Opry pretty regular at the time, but I couldn’t seem to even pass the Grand Ole Opry on Briley Parkway without crying. I came backstage one night just to face my fears. I couldn’t even look at the stage, and my daddy died in the circle from the old Ryman Auditorium on that stage. Roy Acuff knew the fear I had, and he asked me to come out on stage and blow the train whistle like my daddy used to do on the “Wabash Cannonball”. They led me out, and the memories were so hard. I left that night, mad at Roy Acuff, but I later went to his house and told him that I knew exactly why he did that. I could face the Grand Ole Opry stage once again. Thank you Mr. Acuff, and thank you God for giving me such a wonderful father.
Ok, I know I can mul-ti-task, but this is getting ridiculous! I’m suppose to be “semi-retired”. But I seem to get busier & busier as time goes by. Right now I’m singing, writing my book, opening our pool, cleaning house, putting graduation party’s on, writing songs……..Oh I have to tell you that I’ve been wriiting with my good friend Bill Whyte, who is a D.J. on WSM part-time, and was inducted into the D. J. Hall Of Fame along with Eddie Stubbs in February of 2012! We have been writing some good stuff, and can’t wait for ya’ll to hear them. But anyway, getting back to my busy time, I am also working with my brother Danny to put together a Duet Album. We’ve been working on this for sometime, and you’ll really be surprised at some of the songs that we will be doing, really unusual for duets. This album is going to be so special. I think you’re going to love it. Until next week, ya’ll take care and God Bless each and everyone of you.
Hi everybody! I am so thrilled to have my new web site up and running. And to be able to talk to ya’ll is so cool! There are so many things going on that I want to tell ya’ll about; First of all, a special thanks to everyone for coming to the “Hard Rock Cafe” for our show (which I emceed) called “Hard Rock Goes Country”, on 4-7-12. Great turn-out! Then I went to Gulf Shores, Alabama to be with 9 of Glen’s cousins & 2 of his aunts. We celebrated his cousin Phyllis’ good cancer report. This is something that she wanted to do. We had a blast. Next was the “Kevin Sharp Benefit” on 4-25-12. It turned out awesome! Thank you to each & every one for participating. We raised a lot of money, & it’s still coming in. (Go to the photo gallery for pictures of the event.) Right after that I was on the “Midnight Jamboree” for their 65th anniversary show, hosted by Mr. Glenn Douglas Tubb. Thank you Mr. Glen “n”. The next big thing happening is the “Breakfast With The Stars” at the Nitelife Theater, Wednesday morning, June 6th at 9:00 am. I will be singing 2 songs, & having breakfast with you. That will kick off the CMA Music Fest (I still call it “Fan Fair”)! So be looking for us.
Thanks for visiting my website! I’ll be keeping you updated here on my blog! – Karen
